Walking the Camino: A Journey That Changed Me

Posted on October 17 2025

In 2023, I walked the Camino de Santiago for the second time. Every day, I would sit in a café with my little watercolor set and capture what I saw and felt. Even when I was sick and isolating, I kept painting. Art was my comfort. Some days, it was what kept me going.

The Camino is more than a walk. It’s a place where strangers become friends, like Carolyn from Kingston, whom I met by chance — and now we’re close. The Camino gave me beauty, solitude, and healing. I walked the last 110 km alone, often in the rain, and found something peaceful in that.

Half a million people walk the Camino each year, but few stop to paint it day by day. My Camino collection tells that story — of resilience, connection, and the quiet power of putting one foot in front of the other.
